We stayed at Kokusai for two nights during the Christmas holiday, as part of our adventure to explore Japan. The location is fantastic, making it easy to visit the bay area and popular sights. Our triple room was spacious and the breakfast buffet was a delight, featuring a great variety of dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful, which added to our pleasant experience.

Room was bigger than average room in Japan. Within comfortable walking distance to major tourist spots.
Room was old. Location a bit far to walk from train station esp. With luggage but don't really have proper public transportation to get there. Not really value for money.

Nothing to complain about, appreciated my good stay and would stay here again without hesitation. Big and exceptionally clean hotel, location was particularly good and excellent just off JR hakodate and two convenience stores and the major attractions and JR station. The staff was excellent, very pleasant, and everything was nice.

The hotel staff was a Chinese who can communicate with us very well in English n Mandarin. She was very helpful n knowing that we travel with 3 kids n even offer us extra pillow n towels to our room without us requesting for it. The bed was also very comfortable n big, very happy with the service n price.

Comfortable Stay with Great Views in Hakodate
I had the pleasure of staying at Hakodate Kokusai Hotel during a recent business trip that was arranged by my director. Upon arrival, I was struck by the hotel’s ideal location, just a short 10-15 minute walk from Hakodate station. The room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, providing a pleasant refuge after a busy day of meetings. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring a lavish buffet with an impressive selection of both Japanese and Western dishes, all while overlooking the bustling harbor. To unwind, I treated myself to a massage at the onsite spa, which was a wonderful way to relax after a hectic day.
Wi-Fi connection was inconsistent.

convenient access to fish market, modern East wing rooms, fine night views from sky lounge
The air conditioning system felt unreliable!!! The older West wing rooms looked outdated, lacking the modernity where most travelers prefer to stay. The onsen area seemed too small for the number of guests!!!

A breakfast buffet delight
The breakfast selection was extensive, and the staff was cute. I enjoyed local flavors while overlooking the picturesque port view, a good start to the day.
The spa experience fell short of expectations, lacking the calming onsen atmosphere I was looking for. The Wi-Fi connection was also unreliable at times, which disrupted my work.

The hotel's spacious rooms were surprisingly modern. The on-site onsen offered a relaxing escape with beautiful city views. Although breakfast was crowded, the variety was impressive. Check-in was challenging due to language barriers, which could be improved.
